This one day practical workshop aims to equip students with a basic knowledge and understanding of differing roles within a TV Production, Key understanding of how programmes are made, develop basic interview skills,understand how broadcasters differ from each other and learn to manage your own career by developing skills and knowledge.

- Identify the key skills companies are looking for in a junior team member
- Understand the different production roles within a programme production
- Gain an understanding of how programmes are made
- Gain a better understanding of how to enhance communication skills, written and verbal
- Develop good basic interviewing skills
- Identify personal strengths and weaknesses and strategies on addressing weaknesses and enhancing strengths
- Understand how broadcasters differ from each other and how this impacts on their programmes
- Develop an understanding of how basic tasks contribute and are key to productions and the importance of delivering them well and to deadline
- Learn how to manage own career by developing skills, knowledge and experience through checklists and log sheets
- Identify the practicalities of the TV workplace
- Learn how to market oneself in the industry as a freelancer
- Learn how to enhance CVs
- Develop and build upon curiosity and apply to TV production
- Broaden media experiences through web, interactive, journalism, radio
As part of this workshop you will be sent a form to complete beforehand which involves a homework task. Throughout the training day you will carry out a number of practical exercises.
On successful completion of this day you will be eligible for work placements and jobs within the Top TV Academy membership scheme.
